1. Who can take classes? Our classes are open to the general public and are designed so that everyone from beginners to advanced participants can take part.
All children aged seven and above can participate in the kid's training program. For those monkeys under seven who would like to give circus a try, your local gymnastics club is probably a good place to start.
Occasionally we also run a Masters Program for professional or semi-professional performers.
2. How do I enrol? Online: To pay by credit card, enrol on our online shop, which also sells merchandise and circus equipment.
For adult classes click here, for kids and teenage classes, click here.
Mail: To pay by cheque or money order, download an enrolment form here. In person: To pay by cash, cheque or money order, you can pop into the office and request an enrolment form in person.
3. Do I need to sign an indemnity form? Yes.
Every class participant needs to have an indemnity form signed either by themselves (over 18's) or by a legal parent or guardian (under 18's) before commencing classes. A new indemnity form must be signed for each term.
Indemnity forms can be found on the enrolment form or can be downloaded from the right of this page (you might have to scroll up a bit).
Failure to sign an indemnity form will mean that you or your child will be unable to participate.
4. Where are the classes held? Classes are held at the Circus Oz Training Hall located at 40 Bay Street, Port Melbourne.
Enter via the double orange doors on Post Office Place (parallel to Bay Street). Click here for a map of Circus Oz Headquarters.
5. How do I get to the classes? Public Transport: Buses 250, 251 and 253 or Tram/Light Rail 109 and then a short walk. Street Parking: Street parking available however please take note of parking restrictions. Click here for a map of Circus Oz Headquarters.
6. Can I cancel an enrollment? Applications for refunds will be accepted if they are received 7 days before the start of the course. An administration fee of $30 will apply.
Refund requests can be made by emailing classes@circusoz.com.au
7. Are classes ever cancelled? Classes may be cancelled if the minimum number of students is not met.
In the event that a class is cancelled or the dates of a class are altered you can choose to:
- attend the rescheduled class (if applicable); - request a credit note; or - request a full refund. Please note that teachers may change due to their performances schedules.
8. Can I come and watch a class? Having an audience can be both distracting and intimidating so we try and limit the number of people watching our classes.
For children's classes we allow parents and legal guardians to come to the first class and any special showing classes.
Watching adult classes is only by prior negotiation.
To view a class email classes@circusoz.com.au or call 03 9676 0325.
9. What do I wear to a class? Please wear stretchy, comfortable clothes and runners with no watches or jewellery. Hair is to be tied back. Some classes, such as Pole, may have special requirements so read the details of the class carefully.
10. Can I buy a gift voucher for someone? Sure! Email classes@circusoz.com.au or call 03 9676 0325 to organise a gift voucher.
11. 10. Can I enrol a term in advance? No. All classes are first in best dressed. We suggest that you join the mailing list to receive new term brochures as soon as they're available Join the classes lists here.
12. Can I miss warm up? We strongly recommend that you take part in warm up.
Warm up and warm down are vital parts of all classes and reduce the possibility of injuries and muscle strain during the class.
13. What happens if I miss a class? Nothing. We do not refund, run additional classes or allow people to join other classes to make up for any classes they have missed.
Classes will run whether you attend or not, it is your responsibility to make sure you can attend all the classes within the term.
14. Is there a discount for multiple classes? Yes, a 10% discount applies for two or more children in a family enroled in the same term OR two or more courses for the same participant in the one term.
