First Gig With Circus Oz: Melbourne 2010 Ania has worked as a freelance musician, composer and musical director with a number of arts companies including Polyglot Puppet Theatre Company, Westside Circus and NICA. As a musician Ania has performed at various festivals and events around the country with bands including Croque Monsieur, Johnnie and the Johnnie Johnnies, and Yana Alana and Tha Paranas.

Annie Stephens - Community and Corporate Programs Coordinator
First Gig With Circus Oz: Sydney 2003 Annie is another of our talented ex-performers, having worked with Circus Monoxide, Vulcana and doing freelance adagio gigs with partner Paras. She's also been a secretary, and aerobics instructor, English teacher and a Californian vege-burger tastetester. There is no end to her talents.

Antonella Casella - Artistic Administrator
First Gig With Circus Oz: Melbourne 1991 As one of our multi-skilled performers, Antonella has been a part of our show as an acrobat, aerialist and Board member. She's also a founder of the Vulcana Women's Circus and founding member of Rock 'n' Roll Circus. Now she works in our artistic department.

Bec Matthews - Musician
First Gig With Circus Oz: Melbourne 2010 Bec has recorded and performed with many Melbourne based bands, musical theatre companies and orchestras. She is percussionist, performer, composer and
co-musical director for the highly acclaimed cabaret act Yana Alana and Tha Paranas and has recently worked as musical director for The Women's Circus. Bec has also been Head of Percussion at The Peninsula School.

Darryl Cordell - Set Designer
First Gig With Circus Oz: Melbourne 2010 Darryl graduated from the VCA, majoring in fine arts (sculpture) and completed a post-graduate diploma in Theatre Design. He has contributed creatively to work across various cultural platforms, including youth arts, installation, fine arts and theatre, as designer, builder and project coordinator. He recently designed the 2010 Moomba Parade.

Derek Ives - Touring Show Director
First Gig With Circus Oz: Melbourne 1990 Derek is a founding member of Rock 'n' Roll Circus, has worked for Club Swing and Cirkus Cirkor (Sweden), and as the head rigger at the National Institute of Circus Arts. He has an absurd clown company called Wild Duck (inspired by the plays of Ibsen) and an award winning circus company, The Candy Butchers.

Fiona Poletti - Director of Special Projects
First Gig With Circus Oz: Melbourne 2009 After juggling politicians, bureaucrats, 3 different cities - Tokyo, Sydney and Melbourne in seven years and producing three gorgeous sons along the way, Fiona thought it was time to join a real circus to find out the tricks of the trade. After spending a year with Circus Oz on special projects, she is now in complete awe of the talent and like the performers, is mastering keeping lots of balls in the air.

Flip Kammerer - Performer
First Gig With Circus Oz: Melbourne 2008 Flip is a born and bred bush baby from Albury, were she began her circus career with the Flying Fruit Circus. She is a multi-skilled acrobat, tumbler, circus trainer, performer, musician, skater and break-dancer. Flip has been fortunate to have many varied experiences, from performing on Broadway, New York, to competing in extreme sports. Hazel Bock - Performer
First Gig With Circus Oz: Melbourne 2010 Since she can remember Hazel has always loved being on stage. At the age of 11 she taught herself to juggle and hasn't looked back since! After training at the National Institute of Circus Arts she went on to perform with CIRCA, Circus Catharsis, Circus Monoxide and New Zealand's Circus Quirkus. Chocolate is her favourite food group. Jeremy Davies - Performer
First Gig With Circus Oz: Canberra 2006 Jeremy has been a core member of Canberra's Warehouse Circus, co-founded circus company Kronik and has co-created many independent theatre productions. He runs Melbourne's major independent circus training space Blue Circus Studios. He has also toured puppetry to 42nd Street New York. This is his second stint with Circus Oz. Want to know more? Joe Ferguson - Sound Engineer
First Gig With Circus Oz: Italy 2008 Joe has been level balancing sounds for over 18 years. He has worked extensively in circus, cabaret, dance, musical comedy and theatre circles as well as touring with many of the worlds best traditional folk bands. He is a regular on Australia's folk festival circuit and has played bouzouki with traditional Irish group 'Trouble in the Kitchen' since 1997.

First Gig With Circus Oz: Melbourne 1978 Laurel designs and makes costumes for circus, cabaret, theatre, parades, film, puppetry and events. Based in Melbourne, her costumes go off around the world for tours, events and festivals.

Lesley Adeney - Administrator
First Gig With Circus Oz: New York 1997 Lesley's career includes working as a financial administrator for a community employment program, running her own design and screen-printing business, and coordinating media workshops for young people. She's worked with the Melbourne Fringe Festival and has even sold cheese.

Linda Mickleborough - General Manager
First Gig With Circus Oz: Portsmouth 1987 Linda ran away from the Australia Council for the Arts to coordinate the Nanjing Acrobatic Training Project for the Flying Fruit Circus. Following this Linda worked as the Coordinator of Death Defying Theatre. On joining Circus Oz in 1987 she spent six years as the company's Tour Manager traveling from Yirrkala to Bogota and many other places in between. She took up her current position in late 1993 and is generally managing.

Luke Taylor - Performer
First Gig With Circus Oz: Melbourne 2008 Luke began his circus career at the age of 12 when he joined the Flying Fruit Circus. Since then he has gallivanted around the world including performing on Broadway, New York. Luke decided to hone his skills by completing the bachelor of Circus Arts at National Institute of Circus Arts, Melbourne. Since then he has performed in various Australian festivals and circuses.

Margaret Murray - Production Manager
First Gig With Circus Oz: Glen St, Sydney 2001 Margaret was sidetracked by theatre while trying to study at the University of Western Australia. In theatre she was attracted to the constant change, long hours, pervading sense of humour, freakish behaviour and rewarding results. It is only natural that after thirteen years working in theatre, festivals and comedy that she found her way to the circus.

Marko Respondeck - Lighting Designer
First Gig With Circus Oz: Melbourne 2008 Marko loves the potential that a light bulb yields. He has studied lighting design at the Victorian College of the Arts and since worked with major Australian and overseas companies ranging from drama to contemporary dance and rock 'n' roll, physical theatre to circus and beyond.

Mason West - Performer
First Gig With Circus Oz: Melbourne 2010 Mason West started at the Flying Fruit Fly Circus at the age of 7. After leaving high school at 16 he moved to New Zealand where he trained and worked as the head rigger for three years at CircoArts. As a performer he has worked throughout New Zealand and even landed a lead roll in the BBC production 'The Lost World'.

Matthew Hughes - Programming Director
First Gig With Circus Oz: Los Angeles 1984 Matt started out in the Flying Fruit Fly Circus at age fourteen. He has been with Circus Oz for over twenty years. Highlights include a gig at Prince Charles' 50th birthday party in London. He's performed all over the world and is now lending his considerable talents to the company in the complex task of programming.

Mel Fyfe - Acting Operations Manager
First Gig With Circus Oz: Fremantle 1999 Mel has been on stage her whole life as a dancer and acrobat. After performing in WA Theatre Company's production Barnum at 19, she discovered her passion for circus. In 1998 she auditioned for Circus Oz and got the job. She finished performing as the strongwoman with Circus Oz in early 2010 to spend time creating her own show and is currently helping out in the office.

Melinda Maillard - Director of Marketing & Communications
First Gig With Circus Oz: Perth 2007 Melinda has worked in marketing for over 20 years and can't believe she's THAT old! She spent ten years overseas before coming home to work for The Australian Ballet and surviving a stint at the Melbourne Commonwealth Games. Her dream is to become an acrobat.

Michael Ling - Performer
First Gig With Circus Oz: Melbourne 1986 Lingy started young, joining The Flying Fruit Circus at the age of nine. He's spent the past 23 years performing all over the world with Circus Oz, with the odd break to renovate his house and to try his hand at rigging. He loves his new role as dad to little Olive.

Mike Finch - Artistic Director
First Gig With Circus Oz: New York 1997 Mike was a founding member of Circus Monoxide, but started his relationship with Circus Oz doing work experience in 1992. He spent most of the 90's working in and around the innovative and lateral Theatre/Media course at Charles Sturt University in Bathurst. He was a founding member of the Banana Brothers street trio, and has worked as a shearing roustabout, pastry cook, parade designer, associate lecturer and half-wit.

Nhi Tran - Finance Administrator
First Gig With Circus Oz: Townsville 2008 Working as the Finance Administrator for Circus Oz is Nhi's first job in Australia after migrating from New Zealand. Nhi completed a degree in Accounting and Commercial Law at Victoria University, Wellington, and then worked at the university's campus in Ho Chi Minh City as Marketing and Accounting Assistant. Nhi also worked as a volunteer for Save the Children New Zealand.

Paul O'Keeffe - Performer
First Gig With Circus Oz: Wujal Wujal 2008 Performing since age 11, Paul has toured the world from Kalgoorlie to 42nd Street, New York performing in Circus, Dance, Puppetry, Musicals and Physical Theatre. Paul co-created extreme circus company KRONIK and he also set up the KRONIK Professional circus studio in Melbourne. He has co-managed Canberra's Warehouse Circus, run independent circus troupes and performed for a range of companies. This is his third year with Circus Oz.

Rebecca Czapnik - Director of International Market Development
First Gig With Circus Oz: Edinburgh 2008 A seasoned traveller, Rebecca spent ten years working with new media and telecommunications in Australia, Mexico and Colombia before starting with Circus Oz. She is now dedicated to finding exotic places for Circus Oz to visit and new audiences to entertain and inspire.

First Gig With Circus Oz: Melbourne 1998 Robyn worked as the administration and publicity manager for the RMIT Student Union Activities Department. At Circus Oz, she handled group bookings and administration before turning her hand to marketing. In her spare time, she manages Melbourne band Man Bites God.

Rowan Heydon-White - Performer
First Gig With Circus Oz: Melbourne 2010 Rowan started swinging around on a trapeze at an early age, but it wasn't until after she graduated from Charles Sturt University holding a BA in Communication Theatre and Media that she decided it was time to return to the world of circus and has performed throughout New Zealand, winning the "Peopleâs Choice Award" at the World Buskers Festival in 2009.

Sarah Ward - Musician
First Gig With Circus Oz: Melbourne 2010 Sarah is a powerhouse singer who can impersonate anyone from rap to opera to cabaret and has written original lyrics for this Circus Oz show. In 2007, Sarah Ward created the fierce and fragile cabaret poet Yana Alana and her award-winning show with Tha Paranas. Sarah received the 'Best Cabaret Artiste' Green Room Award in 2009. Sarah has composed music for short films and co-musically directed for The Women's Circus. She was also one half of Hip Hop act Sista She.

Suzi Hayes - Operations Manager
First Gig With Circus Oz: Melbourne 2007 Suzi has worked as a mechanist, bicycle courier, arts administrator, puppeteer and freelance writer. She joined Circus Oz by accident after a tour of duty with Snuff Puppets and The Australian Ballet, and has quickly found her niche as a multi-tasking logistics whiz.

The bug started at age eleven and has taken her around Australia, China, New Zealand and back home again. Whether it be performing, teaching or coordinating the opportunity for others to learn amazing circus skills, Tara has always followed her heart.

Tim Coldwell - Founding Member, Show Director
First Gig With Circus Oz: Melbourne 1978 Tim is a founding member of Circus Oz, after being founding member of New Circus. He's been a clown and ringmaster with Circus Royale, a tent hand and elephant boy with Ashton's Circus and he's walked on a high wire from the top of the Adelaide Festival Centre across the Torrens River.

Tristan Bourke - Lighting Operator
First Gig With Circus Oz: Melbourne 2010 Since completing a Bachelor of Dramatic Art (Production) at the VCA, Tristan has worked extensively as a freelance lighting technician and operator, including for the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Melbourne Puppet carnival, Adelaide Fringe Festival and The Darwin Festival. Tristan has also worked for the Malthouse and was a technician at the National Gallery of Victoria.

Zillah Morrow - Stage Manager
First Gig With Circus Oz: Melbourne 2009 Zillah has worked as a stage manager, production manager, venue manager and technical manager in children's theatre, festivals, cabaret, musicals and comedy. She decided it was time to put all that together and join the circus!
